Noting the dual celebration of Independence Day and the aspiration for a disease-free society, Hariqo underlined the administration’s dedication to implementing a series of key health-related programs. These include the CKG program, the “Stop TB” campaign, as well as efforts to enhance regional public healthcare facilities and support medical specialists in remote regions.
Despite celebrating 80 years of independence, Indonesia continues to grapple with the economic and social consequences of prevalent illnesses. The impact of diseases on productivity and GDP is substantial, with studies revealing significant losses attributed to absenteeism, reduced work performance, and premature retirement.
Addressing the economic toll of health-related issues, Hariqo stressed the importance of viewing health investments as strategic economic assets rather than mere social expenditures. Highlighting the prevalence of health issues among Indonesian children, such as diabetes, obesity, and tooth decay, he emphasized the role of CKG in providing preventive care and health education.
