Prabowo Subianto, the President of Indonesia, fondly reflected on the moment when he was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the Sun of Peru by Peruvian President Dina Boluarte on November 14, 2024. This highest honor from the Peruvian government was proudly received by Prabowo as a tribute to the entire Indonesian nation, highlighting the longstanding diplomatic ties that have existed between the two countries since 1975. During Boluarte’s official visit to Indonesia, Prabowo reciprocated the gesture by presenting her with Indonesia’s highest award, the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna, in recognition of her significant contributions to strengthening bilateral friendship and cooperation.
The exchange of honors symbolizes the commitment to deepening the partnership between Indonesia and Peru, with both leaders expressing hope for further growth in the future. In addition to the awards ceremony, the governments of Indonesia and Peru also inked cooperation agreements covering various areas such as narcotics eradication, combatting illicit trade, food security, mining, energy transition, fisheries, and defense. These collaborative efforts underscore the shared commitment to fostering mutual development and prosperity between the two nations.
