Nusron Wahid, the Secretary of Prabowo Gibran’s National Campaign Team, responded casually to Puan Maharani’s statement regarding the communication between the Anies Muhaimin and Ganjar Mahfud camps in preparation for joining forces in the second round.
Nusron stated that the Prabowo Gibran camp currently prefers to communicate directly with the people with the mission of saving state funds. “Feel free to communicate, it’s okay. Currently, Prabowo Gibran prefers to communicate directly with the people, both formally and informally. We are trying to save 27 trillion rupiahs of state funds by making this presidential election a single round,” Nusron told reporters in Jakarta (Monday, 15/1/2024).
Nusron explained that it is important for the people of Indonesia to know about this cost-saving measure. “The people of Indonesia also need to know that if there is a second round, it will cost the people and the state about 27 trillion rupiahs. 17 trillion for the organizing costs and 10 trillion for security,” he said.
“With the current situation, this 27 trillion rupiahs of state funds is very valuable. It can be used for other purposes such as social assistance and other programs. Especially after the election, we will enter the months of Ramadan and Eid,” Nusron added.
Nusron discussed how a two-round presidential election would not only generate longer political turmoil but also result in wasteful spending of state funds. “It is true that it is the people’s right if there are two rounds and another 27 trillion rupiahs are spent. But it is also the people’s right to want this political turmoil to end quickly and for their money to be saved for other purposes,” he explained.
Therefore, Nusron urged the people of Indonesia to save money by choosing only one round on February 14. “Currently, we have the opportunity for just one round by choosing Prabowo Gibran on February 14. It’s up to the people to choose. So, besides getting a strong, sincere, and clear program, as a bonus, they also save 27 trillion rupiahs. This is multiple benefits,” Nusron urged.
“If we can save, why waste?” he concluded. (SENOPATI)
