President Joko Widodo has appointed General Tandyo Budi as Deputy Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) in Bandung. Additionally, he inaugurated six new Regional Military Command (Kodam) commanders, 20 brigade commanders, and 100 Territorial Development Battalions. During the ceremony, President Joko Widodo also awarded the Bintang Sakti Medal of Honor to soldiers who have shown exceptional integrity.
In his address, President Joko Widodo stressed the importance of leaders leading from the front. He emphasized that commanders, brigade commanders, and battalion commanders must be at the forefront of defending and protecting their soldiers in dangerous situations. President Joko Widodo firmly stated that leaders must set the example by leading from the front and being actively involved in critical and risky situations.
Furthermore, President Joko Widodo urged military leaders to treat and train their troops with care and compassion, comparing their responsibility to nurturing their own children. He emphasized the importance of leading by example and instilling discipline without resorting to cruelty. In closing, President Joko Widodo reminded everyone of the TNI’s identity and mission as the people’s army, born from the people, serving and defending the people with readiness to make sacrifices for the nation.
