18,000 Cadres Ready for Free Nutritious Meal Distribution: Deputy Minister

Indonesia is gearing up for its golden generation in 2045 with the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, preschoolers, and toddlers under two years old. The Minister of Population and Family Development, Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka, together with Deputy Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Veronica Tan, discussed the importance of family development in achieving Indonesia Emas 2045 during a forum organized by the Presidential Communication Office. The program, spearheaded by 18,000 Family Planning Counselors (PKB) and Field Family Planning Officers (PLKB), aims to provide essential nutrition to those left out of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education’s coverage. In collaboration with the National Nutrition Agency, Kemendukbangga is deploying trained cadres to ensure the successful implementation of the MBG program. Additionally, Family Assistance Teams (TPK) formed by Kemendukbangga, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Home Affairs, with a total of 600,000 members nationwide, are on the frontline to distribute nutritious meals to pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and young children. The emphasis on nutrition during pregnancy and early childhood is crucial for preventing stunting, as highlighted by Isyana. Building a strong foundation for human resources, starting from families and early childhood, is essential for achieving the government’s Asta Cita goals. The first 1,000 days of life, including pregnancy, are identified as a critical period for ensuring healthy growth and development.
