Prabowo Praises Anwar Ibrahim for Mediating Thailand-Cambodia Conflict

President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, commended Malaysian Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, for successfully mediating the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia that resulted in a ceasefire. The praise was given during their bilateral meeting at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. President Prabowo congratulated Dato’ Seri Anwar for his leadership as Chair of ASEAN and for his effective mediation efforts that led to the ceasefire. He expressed Indonesia’s readiness to support Prime Minister Anwar in his role as both the head of government in Malaysia and as Chair of ASEAN, standing by to provide assistance when needed.

During the meeting, President Prabowo urged ASEAN nations to uphold the principle of peaceful conflict resolution through consultation, negotiation, and deliberation. He emphasized the importance of resolving issues through mediation, stating that it is particularly effective for countries in Southeast Asia with shared cultural and historical backgrounds. Prabowo highlighted the significance of common principles as nations with similar heritage, cultures, and religions.

The President was joined by key members of the Red and White Cabinet in welcoming Prime Minister Anwar, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono. President Prabowo’s statements underscored the importance of mediation in resolving conflicts and maintaining peace, emphasizing the shared values and commonalities among ASEAN countries.
