President Prabowo Subianto has announced an ambitious plan to expand the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) to reach 82.9 million children across Indonesia by the end of 2025. This initiative has been declared a national priority and a matter of urgency. During the 27th anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Prabowo emotionally shared his recent experiences in Central Java, where the demand for the program was evident.
While traveling from Solo to Klaten, Prabowo witnessed the overwhelming support for the program from schoolchildren, teachers, and local communities. This heartfelt encounter motivated him to instruct his team to accelerate the program implementation, aiming to reach 20 million children by mid-August. He emphasized the importance of proper resource management and training for kitchen staff to ensure the success and sustainability of the program.
Prabowo’s commitment to reaching 82.9 million children by December 2025 has captured global attention, with other nations closely observing Indonesia’s efforts. Despite the challenges, he remains optimistic about achieving this target and hopes to be held accountable for his promises by the end of December 2025 or early January.
The Free Nutritious Meal Program is a crucial component of Prabowo’s vision to address child hunger, malnutrition, and educational disparities. By providing nutritious meals to all children, regardless of their background, Prabowo aims to support their learning, growth, and overall well-being. The bold target set by Prabowo reflects Indonesia’s determination to make significant progress in improving child welfare and education within a shorter timeframe compared to other nations.
