The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) made history on Monday morning by leading France’s prestigious Bastille Day military parade along the iconic Champs-Élysées, Paris. This marked the first time in the history of Indonesia-France diplomatic relations that TNI troops were honored as the lead contingent in the annual military procession, commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations. A total of 260 TNI soldiers, accompanied by 189 members of the combined military marching band, delivered a striking performance in their ceremonial uniforms adorned with unique symbols representing Indonesia’s armed service branches. Their energetic appearance garnered enthusiastic applause from spectators lining the parade route, including French President Emmanuel Macron, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, and the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad al-Sabah. International media outlets highlighted Indonesia’s honored role in the parade, with leading French broadcasters airing highlights and print and digital outlets publishing dedicated features. France 24 reported that over 450 Indonesian troops participated in the parade, symbolizing a deepening strategic partnership between the two countries, especially within the Indo-Pacific framework. The Indonesian delegation expressed that this recognition at the Bastille Day parade signifies Indonesia’s growing presence on the international stage.
